Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva 's government has announced a "zero tax" (imposto zero) on solar panels until 2026. Import tax, IPI (industrial products tax), Cofins (social security funding contribution) will not be levied, as reported by Brasil 247, a partner of TV BRICS.
From 1 April 2026, export tax rebates of as much as 13% on solar products will be rolled back, while rebate rates on battery goods will be cut to 6% from 9%, with full phase-out scheduled on 1 January 2027, according to a joint announcement by the Ministry of Finance and the State.
The following table shows the country-wide final rates announced Monday in comparison to the preliminary rates that were already in effect. Some suppliers have been assigned their own rates.
